My grandson started at Spring Brook School in December 2012 and I immediately saw the impact of their fantastic work. He was fully included and his behaviour started to improve from day one.
I enjoyed attending parent council meetings as I found them very informative and a chance to make suggestions that would benefit my grandson and other pupils. When a place came up on the governing body for a parent governor, I decided to put myself forward.
I was very nervous at my first meeting in November 2013 but everyone was very supportive and answered my many questions. I have learnt so much since then and continue to do so.
Recently we have gone through a period of change and Spring Brook has now become an academy, part of the New Bridge Group. I look forward to future meetings and what this means for Spring Brook. I’m sure there are going to be many new and exciting opportunities for everyone involved with Spring Brook!
My interest in schools stems from a long working background in school health. I have always been interested in how health and behaviour impacts on a child’s education.
Away from work and school, I like to spend time with my grandson. We have just adopted a rescue cat called Edward who is settling in with us nicely and I love to read when I have time.
