Maths

New Bridge School gives students a range of practical mathematical opportunities which enables them to operate confidently and effectively. We strive to make learning fun and interactive, covering a range of topics that engages all learners. Regular cross-curricular links are planned and monitored.

Within the Maths curriculum students are taught skills that engage them in activities that employ number, shape and measure, data handling and using and applying skills. The Maths curriculum has been written with the following principles in mind:

  • Challenge and Enjoyment
  • Coherence
  • Breadth
  • Progression
  • Depth
  • Personalisation and Choice
  • Relevance

Interventions include:

  • Corrective Maths
  • Money skills
  • Sandwell Numeracy
  • Maths Comprehension

As part of the Maths curriculum, with particular focus on Personal Finance, the Maths department works closely with PFEG (Personal Finance Education group) in order to deliver specific lessons on functional skills, enhancing students’ opportunities as independent learners and promoting their living skills.
