Lumenus at the College is the next step for young people aged 16 and over who are already following or would like to join the Performing Arts pathway. Its overall aim is to extend the young people’s skills in Performing Arts and develop their professional experience of the performing arts industry. This will be completed through skills workshops, performance, accredited learning, appropriate work experience and working alongside professional artists and companies. The young people will also continue with a core of literacy, numeracy, employability and living skills.
They will take part in a number of theatre projects and performances in partnership with a range of organisations from the wider community for two and half days per week, for example, Oldham Theatre Workshop, Oldham Coliseum, The Royal Exchange, The Contact Theatre, Manchester International Festival. Lumenus students have access to Oldham Theatre Workshop on their pathway days to experience working within a professional rehearsal environment. The work will be accredited through Arts Award and they will be given opportunities to develop dance and music technology skills. There are a number of performance opportunities throughout the year which include the MAT production, Christmas concert, secondary school partnership with Oldham Coliseum, SEN Festival with Royal Exchange and international residential opportunities.
Throughout our two-year course at College, students will continue to develop lifelong skills in self-confidence and communication moving towards greater independence.
The accreditations offered are:-
Bronze Arts Award – Level 1
