Digi4ll
The DIGIT4LL pathway covers a broad set of skills and knowledge which are categorised into Dashboard levels to allow pupils working at any level to be able to meet their full potential.
The intent is for all students to learn IT skills and apply them to the world around them and prepare them for the world of work. The computing curriculum offer is identical whether it is on-site learning or remote learning through our use of virtual learning platforms to allow students to work at their own pace.
We use our internal Dashboard system, which is made up of a series of skills and knowledge statements known as ‘I Cans’ and are selected by the teacher as personal targets for each student. Students working at Dashboard levels E and above will work towards the aspirational destinations ‘Volunteering in my Community, ‘Working with Support’ or ‘Being Independent’.
DIGIT4LL students study accredited qualifications and cover a wide range of topics:
- Online Fundamentals
- Mobile Devices
- Website Design
- Digital Animation
- Video & Audio Software
There are three qualifications offered to students on the IT pathway:
- WJEC ICT Entry Level 1-3
- NCFE IT User Skills Level 1 and 2
- Pearsons Functional Skills in ICT Entry Level 3 – Level 2
As well as gaining a qualification, there is a huge focus on the IT Pathway students to develop IT skills and apply them to running their own enterprise. The intent is for the IT pathway students to be able to complete the Young Enterprise scheme, competing with other colleges across the country. This involves the beginnings of opening a bank account, through to IT production and design of a product, managing the finances and promoting their enterprise at events across Greater Manchester.
