Head of College Update 1.4.22
Writing these updates is an absolute pleasure as I get to share what I see, live and breathe daily… which is being in the centre of a cluster of hardworking, committed and dedicated students and staff members.
Sincerely, thank you for all of your efforts during another productive week here at the College.
This week at the College has had an American feel to it! Firstly, we are now part of the National School Breakfast Programme which means we can now provide all of our students with a nourishing free breakfast each morning. The menu includes ‘New York’ bagels and these are going down a treat. Especially, when topped with sugar-free jam or tangy lemon curd!
Secondly, this week, we welcomed back students and staff who have spent the last fortnight in Chicago. It has been amazing hearing about all of their experiences, the sights they saw and the new people they met and made friends with. Our young people were involved with a wonderful range of collaborated activities with students at Ridgewood School.
To name just a few, students and staff enjoyed an evening at Medieval Times, workshops at the Apple Headquarters in the centre of Chicago, workshops at Ridgewood High School, gaming/arcade enrichment, seeing the Broadway production ‘Moulin Rouge’ at the theatre, fine American cuisine at the famous Ed Debevic’s Diner and a trip to Gurnee Mall.
Over this weekend, whether you are watching the football (like me), listening to music, spending time with family, loved ones and/or friends, watching a movie, reading a book or doing something else…. I hope you find some time for yourself, lighten your loads, forget some of your burdens and just enjoy. Please do have a great weekend, see you on Monday morning… ready to ‘go again’!
