A Little Update…
Bridging The Gap Update
“Well, all good things come to an end and our BTG students have come to the end of their first placement at MMU and ROH!
For some of our students, this was their first venture in to the ‘real world.’ They have worked incredibly hard and have made myself and Hayley extremely proud with everything that they have achieved! There has been ups and downs, with targets to complete and a big emphasis on timekeeping, attendance and attitude to work, but overall they have smashed it!
We have had offers of paid work! We have new placements beginning in January, and all our employers and staff who work with our students have given each of our students great feedback.
Their CV’s are growing and each and every BTG student has made excellent progress for what has been a large jump regarding their own independence and working away from college.
But now, they are all exhausted! They are ready for the Christmas break and they are ready to have a lie in and not be walking around in the torrential rain for a couple of weeks!
Next week you will hear from all our students about how they have found their first term on Bridging the Gap. But from Haley and I, thank you to all our students for persevering, showing resilience, but most of all for working hard!
P.S Hayley and I would like a lovely BTG group photo next week please lads, including our Mr Gibson please!
Haha, so dress up nicely and smile!”
“It’s been a really busy Half Term.
All of our students have worked well and applied themselves to a range of topics, in line with their abilities.
The last few weeks, classes have been completing work on three dimensional shapes.
This has ranged from identifying different shapes, through to identifying volume and total surface area of a range of 3D shapes.
This week, students have been working on mean, median and mode. They have worked on how to calculate them and in the case of the higher level groups, how to apply this information, to solve a range of problems.
I’d love to take the opportunity to wish you all a very happy holiday season, filled with good times. In the aftermath of the holidays, we will be conducting mock exams to ensure that all our students are aiming for the correct qualifications and making good progress.”
“This week in PSHE, we have been learning social activities that promote positive well being.
There was some really good prior knowledge of positive social activities and a lot of our students engage in these activities.
We are coming to the end of our unit for this term. Also a big well done to Ronnie Beech for completing this wonderful poster that we will be displaying in our college!
I am going to leave you with some wonderful pictures of our students and their work.
