I definitely have to begin this week’s blog by saying a huge well done to everyone involved in the New Bridge ‘Christmas Showcase’. I had the pleasure of catching some of the performances last night in between helping backstage. Here are just a few pictures of Sophie and Angelica performing their dance around the theme ‘Angels’ – appropriate title ladies, you were wonderful!
It was also lovely to get to know some of the students from across New Bridge and Hollinwood Academy. It was a great team effort and definitely got everyone into the Christmas spirit! A massive well done to the whole team, another great show! Here’s to the next one!
Last Friday students from Medtia and the Learning Centre went to Oldham Hulme Grammar with Mr Lawrence to participate in a table tennis competition. All the students were very nervous prior to the games beginning, however they had nothing to worry about as they showed really good technical skills on the table..

New Bridge finished second in a four group league. Well done to all the players and thanks to Mr Hagan for supporting the students.
Talking of Christmas, next week we have a range of activities starting Wednesday with the Learning Centre Christmas dinner. Students will be making their very own table decorations to ensure a festive feel. On Wednesday students will also be taking part in our Super Learning Day, the focus of which is ‘The Joy of Giving’, celebrating the cohesion of all cultures and the similarities shared. The theme is also linked to the work students have been doing this term on ‘The Five ways to well-being’.
This Christmas the Student Council also continued the theme of giving by supporting the ‘Lighthouse Project’. Thanks to everyone who has already generously donated toiletries, chocolates or gifts to a very good cause. There is still time to bring items in if you wish to contribute.
On Thursday morning we are holding our annual Talent / Karaoke contest. Last year was great fun with both staff and students taking part, I promise to share some photographs in next week’s blog.
On Thursday afternoon all parents and carers are invited to our very own Learning Centre Christmas Market. There will be a range of stalls including crafts, tombola and hamper, candles, beauty products, horticulture and DIY, a cake stall and the Enterprise group from Medtia will be selling ‘Cosy Cuddlers’ heat pads, mental health key rings, Christmas mugs and bags. It’s a great opportunity to purchase any last-minute gifts! Please can we ensure students bring in some money if they wish to buy anything.
The week finishes on Friday with the completion of the pool and table tennis competitions, inter-year group games and our Christmas assembly. Staying with the festive theme, I’d like to thank Mrs Walters and the food studies groups for what was a very yummy ‘Christmas log’. All students were involved, here are just a few pictures of the Employability group..
I promise I did share mine with the Pastoral staff!
Have a great weekend,
Dawn
