Firstly I would like to welcome all of our students back after the Easter break. What a lovely end we had to the holidays with that gorgeous weather! This week it has been very much back to business for us with some of our students going out on a Duke of Edinburgh’s expedition and our Lumenus students rehearsing for the big show which takes place next week!

I managed to sneak into rehearsals earlier on today and it is looking AMAZING! The set is fantastic, the costumes are amazing, there is a live band and, most importantly, our students are doing an incredible job! I hope that you all get to see it next week. If you would like tickets, you can purchase them here (please contact Isabella on 0161 883 2401 if you need any help with making your payment).

This week’s ‘Day in the life of’ feature from Lumenus gives us a peek behind the scenes..

A day in the life of Ananya
Key Stage 5 Lumenus Pathway

Hi everybody, my name is Ananya and I’m going to tell you about a typical day in Lumenus..

It’s rehearsals week!!!! Everyone is super busy, there’s lots to do and it’s all very exciting watching the show come together!

I arrived this morning at New Bridge School for rehearsals.

We’re here for 2 weeks because of the show. I helped set the stage up for the day and then got dressed into my costume..

In the Greatest Show I play the part of the ‘Tattooed Lady.’ I absolutely love the character and the costume..

In the show I have a dance routine which I have been practising and I can’t wait for you all to see it!

We were joined by students from the Learning Centre, Hollinwood Academy, Hawthorns and Spring Brook – yep, it’s been very jam packed this week!

I’ll leave you with some lovely pictures from the rehearsals. I hope you’ve all got tickets for the show, can’t wait to perform for everyone.

Next week we will be taking all of our students that are not in the show to see their friends perform on Thursday morning. We will be leaving Medtia at 9am and will be travelling via tram, so please send in travel passes or £2.80 to pay for the return tram journey and ensure that all students arrive at college on time to give us chance to get over to New Bridge.

Congratulations to our ‘Worker of the Week’ Fahad for showing excellent skills in the kitchen and putting 100% into his new placement – a great start, well done!

It is a slightly shorter blog than usual this week as I wanted to give our groups time to settle back in, but next week we will be back with updates from our pathways and a report on our show! Break a leg everyone.

Have a great weekend,

Daniel
Head of Key Stage 5 Pathways
