Well, I can’t believe another year has passed and we have reached the end of the Summer term. We have achieved so much again this year… from setting up our pre-internship course to winning enterprise awards and meeting Prince William. Our students and staff have once again wowed us with their talent, determination and charisma and it has been a fantastic year to be at Medtia Square.

This week we have started to wind down a little and I enjoyed a trip to Alton Towers with our Pre-Internship students on Tuesday as Genna explains..

For our end of year trip, the Pre-Interns went to Alton Towers for the day!

No sign of fear from Steven, Tony and Zoheb before going in the Haunted House!! (or from Mr Wood!)

Job coach Maria was not so sure..

Oblivion – that really is a rollercoaster that goes into a hole in the ground! Everyone was pretty nervous when we were hanging over the edge but couldn’t wait to go back on after we’d finished!

All the boys; Dylan, Luka, Steven, Tony and Zoheb were keen to set off on the newest ride, The Wicker Man..

All this riding rollercoasters is thirsty work!

Tamara took over the camera to catch Steven..

..and a duck!

We finished off the day on the Water Rapids where Chloe and Tamara were the only students to get wet..

..oh, and Dylan..

Zoheb was the only one to come prepared and brought a rain mac for the rapids..

All that walking was tiring work, so home time became nap time!

All the students had a great day and would like to thank Nicola for arranging the trip and Mr Wood for kindly driving our bus!

On Wednesday we had the Year 14 Leavers’ Presentation at New Bridge School. We were extremely proud of all of the students who stood up to celebrate their time at New Bridge and this was mirrored on Thursday for our Future Finders Celebration Event. For all of those leaving us this time, we wish you the very best for the future. Whether that be in paid employment or at a new college, we know that you will continue to succeed in everything that you do.

I’d like to finish by thanking all of my staff team hear at Medtia – our job coaches, teachers, support staff, Atrium staff and caretaking team. You work hard every single day to ensure that we get the best out of our young people, that they achieve their potential and that they have fun on the way! You are all an absolute joy to work alongside and so on behalf of myself, our families and the senior leadership team, thank you and enjoy your break!

Finally, a reminder to our Future Finders students that there is a Summer job club every Wednesday from 9am to 12pm where you can drop in for support on applying for jobs, attending interviews or for support around your current employment.

All that remains to say is have a wonderful Summer break. We look forward to seeing our students back on Tuesday 4th September!
