Covy, Joseph and Bobby-Joe, our Year 11 pupils from New Bridge School went back to the Mind charity shop to continue their work experience placement this week. As you can see, they were very eager to be back at work and they certainly picked up where they left off and got stuck in..

The staff were happy to see our pupils as their help in the shop is very much appreciated. Dawn completed a short health and safety awareness course with them first, going over the health and safety rules, showing them where the fire exits are and explaining about moving and handling techniques (she advised the group not to do any lifting and to stay safe)..

They all listened carefully and then set to work, Covy tidying the bookshelves to make sure they are neat and presentable in the shop..

..checking sizes for clothes for tagging and labelling..

..before putting the clothes on hangers ready to sell. This took a while for her to do but she did it!

Joseph helped by sorting the hangers to hang the clothes ready for selling..

Joseph and Bobby-Joe then checked and tidied the DVDs..

..before they shredded the paperwork for Dawn – she had a lot to get rid of and they had to be very careful not to put too much paper into the shredder at once..

The group wrote about the day in their work experience diaries before they left, reflecting on their session before going back to the Learning Centre for living skills..

As you can imagine, they are all looking forward to continuing their placement this Friday!
