Just a quick blog this week to welcome you all back to school, I hope that you enjoyed your break over Christmas. Our students have settled back in well and this week marks the start of a new term of placements for our Bridging the Gap, Pre-Internship and Future Finders students. Our young people based at The Royal Oldham Hospital have already begun their new placements and were looking very smart when I saw them yesterday wearing their new uniforms.

Our pre-interns and Future Finders begin their placements next week and we would like to officially welcome on board a number of new employers that will be working with us in hosting students. They include David Lloyd Gym in Middleton and First Choice Homes, Oldham who are offering placements in their customer service centre and within their maintenance teams out in the community. It is great to have new employers to work with and our students are very much looking forward to getting started in their new placements next week.

Over Christmas, I was contacted by the Department for Education who have officially triggered the due diligence process to begin which will allow us to open as an independent post-19 college in September. We will be sending out application forms in the next week or so to those students interested in accessing the Future Finders course next year. We are hoping for final approval to open by the end of March and I will keep you posted on the process over the coming months.

Please could I remind you that our New Bridge Group lottery is continuing to run this year – a weekly £1 ticket will give you, your family and friends the chance to directly support our young people and be in with the chance of winning a cash prize too. Tickets are just £1 each and you are entered into two prize draws each Saturday. One draw is just for our school and the more tickets we sell, the larger that prize will be each week. You are also entered into a national school lottery with other participating schools each week and this draw has a guaranteed prize of £25,000 a week! You can sign up online here.

Next week we will be back with our usual features of ‘Worker of the Week’ and ‘A day in the life….’ together with updates from our pathways students after their first full week back.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Daniel
