Well, finally Spring has sprung into Dean Street. We hope all our families and carers enjoyed the Bank Holiday rest and relaxation.

As I said in my Easter blog, this term is so exciting and jam packed with activities. So to ‘kick off ‘ May, Miss Roberts in NG4 has given us an insight into what her class have been up..

Regan has made a great start to accessing GCSE Art, he has completed his graffiti name..

..and started producing pop art pictures of bottles using different media..

He has also completed his Entry Level Maths this week, amazing!

Jamie has had a great week producing some great sketches of seating for DT..

He has also nearly completed his Entry Level English, one more piece of work to do!

Mason has made a great start to his graffiti name, it’s kept him very calm and relaxed whilst painting..

He’s also only got one piece of work left to complete his Entry Level English!

Jack has had a fantastic week, he has attended every day and become really focused with his Maths, even asking to attend an extra lesson so as he can do more. He has also attended his first English lesson this week for quite some time. He’s doing fantastically well and seems happy spending more time in school.

To say these boys don’t like change, they have acted very maturely and given Miss Roberts a warm welcome into the group – a massive well done to them!

This makes us all so proud at Spring Brook as it really shows what our young people can achieve. Our staff work hard to plan and prepare personalised learning for all our pupils which motivates them to learn and succeed. Perhaps it’s time to bring back my favourite phrase that ‘nothing is impossible, impossible is nothing.’

Last Friday I ventured all the way down to London to the Department for Education. I’ve been in teaching a long time so it was interesting to see the place, Sanctuary House, where the decisions are made which shape our educational system. The building itself is quite deceptive, a bit like Hogwarts in the middle of Westminster with Big Ben in the distance..

I was accompanied on the trip by Mr Haque from the ICT department of our Trust. Our remit was to look at the ICT offer for the Springboard building. The entire day was given to ensuring we are able to provide our young people with the best and latest technology available. I will endeavour to keep you all updated as the Springboard Project gathers speed.

Enjoy the sun this weekend – let’s hope it stays until our next break,

Mrs Tootill
Head of Springboard Project
