We have finally sprung into Spring here at Dean Street!!! The sun is beginning to shine for longer and the days are lighter and hopefully staying warmer (although the lost hour was tough going on Monday morning!) – maybe we are now moving towards Summer. This is the end of an exciting term where we have seen lots of changes to both our building and the curriculum.

The week got off to an exciting start with some of our Key Stage 4 pupils visiting Heaton Park with Mrs Needham. Throughout the park there are lots of activities to take part in over the Easter break. The park is so beautiful and well maintained and this is always a popular trip for our Spring Brook pupils..

On Tuesday I met with our colleagues from the Department for Education to look at the next part of Springboard Project. Everyone sat around the table was really impressed at what goes on within our Group and they were especially interested in the aspirations for our young people. We also began to discuss the technical aspects of our Group and what this will look like in the new building.

We have started to look at our governing body for the Springboard Project which will include people recruited from the local community and a staff governor to help shape the future of the Project. All exciting stuff!

Finally, our week concluded with our coffee morning. I really enjoyed this as it reminded me of when I first joined Spring Brook (which was surprisingly 6 months ago!) and the staff and pupils made me feel really welcome and at home. I must admit though that my contribution was bought rather than homemade (unlike Miss Rodgers and Mrs Thorpe who are so good at making things) and a great time was had by all..

Next term I am meeting with young people and parents and carers to gain their views on the Springboard Project. Please contact me directly at school if you wish to discuss any aspect of the new Project.

Summer sees the start of exam season and although we know this is a really hard time for pupils (and the staff who want the best outcomes for our young people), there is still a lot of learning to be completed before we see the end of the school year.
