This week has been ever so busy at Spring Brook in Key Stage 3. My heroes this week are the staff and pupils in our Nurture Group where there has been lots of learning taking place. Mrs Walters always works hard to ensure that the pupils always achieve their best and Mr Pryce is doing a really great job in supporting them with their learning.

Adam has upped his time and he has settled into his new routine quickly. In Science the boys have being doing experiments about solids and liquids, mixing cornflour and water to make slime with some interesting results..

In English the boys have being working on nouns, adjectives and story starters. In their Maths lessons Mark and Wayne have continued working on fractions, James has been working on number bonds and rounding while Adam is working on his AQA folder, completing work on the time component. The boys have made keyrings in Art and Craft for Mother’s Day presents, along with some beautiful cards..

In Food Tech. the boys rustled up an impressive chicken stir fry with noodles, all of them making a delicious dish to take home..

In their PE lessons at Spring Brook the pupils are learning about trampolining and football in Key Stage 3 this half term. In addition, some of them have had the chance to travel up to New Bridge and join the Activ8 sports pathway in their rugby lessons. Mark, Holly and Leon all performed brilliantly, got stuck in and earned the respect of the Activ8 group..

In Year 9 the pupils went out on an outdoor trip to the beautiful Cheshire countryside in Bickerton to walk the sandstone trail and climb the ‘Raw Head’ hill. I’m delighted to say the Year 9s behaved impeccably all day and even managed to discover some hidden caves under the hill which, of course, needed to be explored!!! This is Mr Daly and Stephen deep in thought – how better to end another busy week of learning at Spring Brook?

Mr Hopkins – as ever, you are doing a great job motivating the pupils to learn in PE.

Finally, Mrs Thorpe and I would like to thank all the Key Stage 3 parents and carers from SBA1 and SBA2 for attending the meetings on Friday morning. It is always good to work alongside parents and carers to reinforce our expectations around behaviour and attitudes to learning here at Spring Brook.

We are very excited to be launching the New Bridge Group lottery today to help raise funds directly for our young people – if you would like to find out more, please click here for details!
