While their new website is being developed, Spring Brook Academy will be sharing their news here. Find out what has been happening at the Upper School..

This week’s blog is dedicated to a member of staff who is leaving us to go and work in Australia. I have asked Miss Beaumont to tell us about her Spring Brook adventure as she flies off to new challenges and exciting experiences..

Well, my journey at Spring Brook started in April 2014 when I was appointed as Attendance Officer for both the lower and upper sites. I think for some of our pupils it was a quick, sharp shock to have a new stranger knocking on their bedroom doors and getting them into school! Although pupils probably wouldn’t like to admit it, I think some of them secretly started to trust me and maybe even started to enjoy the support I offered!

My role began to develop and after a nerve racking and grilling panel interview (special thanks Rebeckah, Margaret, Toni and Suzanne for this!) I landed my dream role as the Link Worker for Key Stage 4. In addition to this I was also persuaded to become a staff school governor, a team teach tutor, a first aider, a co-ordinator for restorative justice, a co-ordinator for family group conferencing AND a holiday activities leader! To say the very least it’s been a very busy and eventful 3 years and I wouldn’t change a second of it.

Over the next 12 months I know you will all embark on your new journey within the trust, the changes and developments predicted will only allow us to support our pupils to gain a brighter and successful future. I have felt so very privileged to have worked with so many wonderful and talented pupils and staff members at Spring Brook and I can only wish you every ounce of happiness and success in the future. I’ll be in touch and for anyone who wants to follow my adventure you can expect more of this….me surfing in Bali 2015..

Myself, Miss Rodgers and the staff and pupils at Spring Brook would like to wish Chanell good luck in her ‘brave new world’ and hope that she keeps in touch with us – perhaps even a cheeky blog from ‘Down Under’ please, Miss B.!

Our new key worker at Key Stage 4 will be Mr Allman who will continue the good work with the pupils that Miss Beaumont began.

Good luck, Miss B., stay safe!
