Welcome to my special blog giving you the inside story to the events of our Year 11 residential in Wales – I can tell you that some teachers are more worried than others about this! Tuesday night saw Mr Bright entertain the Hafan y Mor entertainment venue with what has rather harshly been described as ‘shambolic singing’ and ‘deplorably bad dancing’. It wasn’t that bad, I don’t know why everyone was in hysterics – if you ask me, the school talent show beckons…

That morning saw us sunbathing at the beach. I must admit that it was as long a walk there as you could imagine, not helped by the fact that the route decided to suddenly remind me of my Tuesday morning fitness sessions by giving us certain exercises to do along the way. It was a nice reward to finally get there and sunbathe for the majority of the day. Oh, and get shot at with a water gun by Connor – fantastic!

The funniest part of the week, however, was watching Mr Greenway having to be taken off the Aerial Adventure course. There certainly was a funny smell around the site that night and I am sure I heard mutterings about chickens. I will be kind today and refrain from any talk of roasting chickens but you may have to wait and see what happens in the coming weeks! There is a video of Mr Greenway on the zip wire which I am sure everyone would like to see and I am hoping that it may be cleared to go on the website and our Facebook page for you all to enjoy… In all fairness, once you get past the first zip wire, you feel more confident; it was so easy that I did it twice! Another activity that went really well was the go karts. I was ridiculously slow at it, so slow that I counted it a massive achievement not getting lapped! Well done to Mr Fairest for winning the staff race and being the only one to follow the “No Bumping” rule in the race too.

We enjoyed a BBQ (I have to say the food was very tasty) and we also spent a couple of nights in the entertainment venue. The last evening there saw Alex trying (and failing) to chat up one of the FunStars and I decided to leave the venue belting out Oasis’s Greatest Hits. What a brilliant night to cap off a brilliant week! I would like to thank every single student and every single member of staff who came on the trip for making it one of the most memorable weeks of my life!

In other news, my blog is slightly delayed as I am sitting some GCSE exams myself this week. I want to wish everyone doing them all the best.
