The first basketball tournament of the year was a very exciting time for some of our young people at New Bridge as it was their first PE trip. Year 7 pupils Jay and Bradley were nervous as this was also their first time representing school, but Mrs Lamb and Mr Smith are very pleased to report back that they certainly did us proud!
The basketball tournament was held at Manor High School in Sale and over 10 different schools took part! New Bridge got their first game off to a brilliant start with some great team work and passing of the ball. Both teams were evenly matched though, and despite some excellent playing the game ended in stalemate with a 0-0 draw.
For our second game we introduced our new players, Jay and Bradley. They conquered their nerves and made a very impressive debut for New Bridge, immediately making an impact with some great skills and passing of the ball. Then, a superb pass from Lewis to Jay saw him score the first point of the morning. 1-0 to New Bridge!!!

New Bridge went on to win 2 games and draw 2 during their morning at Manor High School. Our team played some brilliant basketball and it was a pleasure to see all our players showing good sportsmanship and shaking hands at the end of each match.
What a fantastic morning and a wonderful experience for our team, especially the new pupils representing New Bridge. Mr Smith may need to calm down slightly on the touch line, though, as he got rather caught up in the excitement and was celebrating even more than the players!
