Welcome back to the start of the New Year and the Spring term. I sincerely hope all of you had a peaceful and restful holiday, and I would like to wish you all the very best for the coming year. It has been lovely to see our young people happy and smiling, glad to be back at school.

Could I take this opportunity to remind you all of our school rules. Make-up should not be worn in school, and I am asking some of our girls who are wearing more than just a touch of mascara to remove their make-up. In addition, school uniform remains important as it provides our young people with a sense of belonging, purpose and commitment. I would appreciate your support in ensuring your child wears their school uniform – as always, if you have any concerns or issues, please contact your pastoral team at New Bridge.

Our first sponsored Santa Stroll was an amazing event, great fun for all the young people and staff as you can see from the photos in our Facebook album here. So far I am delighted to let you know that we have raised the fantastic sum of £1635.94! Monies are still coming in so don’t worry if you haven’t managed to collect all your sponsorships, and if you have any friends or family who would like to make a donation they can visit https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/New-Bridge-Group We intend to make this an annual event, it certainly helped walking off the Christmas lunch!

Holiday club letters have gone home to you all tonight; places are at a premium, so if you would like your child to access the club at half term please make sure you return the forms by Friday 15th January.

We have also arranged our next coffee morning for Wednesday 2nd March and I look forward to seeing you then. There will be opportunities on the day to look at options for our current Year 9 pupils, with video footage being shown and staff on hand to help you and your child decide.

I am now delighted to hand you over to Dawn Allison, our new Head of the Learning Centre following Roger’s retirement at Christmas. We will be continuing our joint New Bridge weekly blog entries from next week – until then, take care,

Judith

My first blog! Welcome back to a brand new term and year, I hope everyone had a great break.

I’d like to start by saying a big ‘thank-you’ to both students and staff alike for their words of encouragement this week as I have taken over from Roger Postlethwaite as Head of Site at the Learning Centre. I am really looking forward to the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated staff team in supporting our amazing students.

We had a great last week of term. Super Learning Day took place on the last Monday focusing on Christianity and specifically Christmas. Students were involved in making a wide range of festive items and goodies which, along with items from our Enterprise groups, were on sale at our very own Christmas Market.

A lovely Christmas dinner was enjoyed by all, including our invited guests, and we would like to say a big ‘thank-you’ to everyone who made it possible, especially Shirley, Linda, Sarah and Olwen.

Our Christmas Game Show Extravaganza, complete with Mr Howard’s ‘Play Your Cards Right!’ and some very glamorous dolly dealers, was a great success and had everyone joining in the festive spirit..

Mr Postlethwaite – our very own ‘Dolly Dealer’!

Mr Howard & Mr Taylor ready for action.

Mr Howard and Mr Taylor ready for action…

Happy New Year to you all. May I wish all our students every success in 2016.

Dawn
